Biography

Samuel was born on May 18, 1712 in Connecticut, he son of Samuel and Lydia (Cook) Leonard. ^[1]

He married Lydia Stanton on Aug 9, 1733. ^[2] The children included Samuel, Lydia, Ebenezer, John, Mehitable Leonard, Olive, and Daniel.

He died on 24 April 1760 at the age of 47 and is buried at Leonard Cemetery, Griswold, New London, Connecticut, USA (no headstone photo)

His date of death, 24 April 1760 is recorded in the heading of his inventory.^[3]

On 5 August 1760, Ebenezer, John, and Mehitable Leonard of age to choose a guardian chose their brother Samuel. Olive and Daniel minors under the age for choosing a guardian.^[4]

In 1761, the estate distribution was set out to Samuel Leonard (eldest son), Ebenezer Leonard, John Leonard, David Leonard, Lydia, wife of Rufus Herrick, Mary Leonard, Mehitabel Leonard, and Olive Leonard.^[5]
