Australian Rules Football player for the Fitzroy Football Club between 1913 and 1922, played in the Grand Final in 1913 (his debut year), was Team captain 1921–22, captained the 1922 Team in the Grand Final, and was non-playing coach for the 1925 season.
He was an inaugural NSW Australian Football Hall of Fame Inductee of 2024.
