Biography

Sophia (Leyson) Richardson was born in Wales.

Sophia was the daughter of John Leyson, a mason, and Rebecca Godwin. She was born about 1845 in Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales.^[1] She was about three years old when her father died.^[2]

Sophia (Leyson) Richardson came free to the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

On 12th July 1868 Sophia married Joseph Richardson at his family home in Kooringa, now Burra, South Australia.^[3] They had seven children.

Sophia died on 5th September 1906 in Adelaide, South Australia,^[4] and was interred in the West Terrace Cemetery.^[5]
