Biography

Bertha May Libby was born on May 11, 1874 in Taylor county, Iowa.[1] She was the daughter of Cary Allen Libby and Belinda Nausler. Bertha was in her parent's home at age 12, in New Market, Taylor County, Iowa in 1885.[2]

She Married Zacariah A Barton (1872-1955) on February 3, 1892, in Bedford, Taylor County, Iowa.[3] They had 7 children.

  3. Bernice Garland (Barton) Morgan (1896-1978)[5][4]
  4. Charles 'Evertt' Barton (1904-1976)[6]
  5. Albert Virgil Barton (1906-1990) m. Margaret L (Hopkins) Henderson, 1942.[7][6]
  6. Alvah Vernon Barton (1906-1977)[6]m. Winnifred V Zepp, 1926.[8]
  7. Eddie Merlin Barton (1909-1985)[6] m. Katherine Wilson, 1937.[9]

They made their home in Burnett Twp., Tilden Antelope county, Nebraska in 1900, where Zack worked as a Farm laborer, and she took care of the home and children, Claude-8, Lester-6, and Burnice-3.[4] Still in Burnett, by 1910, Evert-5, Albert-3, Alvah-3, and Eddie-0 had been born and were in the houshold also.[6]

They moved form Nebraska to Washington by 1920, where they lived in Fern Prairie, Clark County, Washington, with Everett-15, Albah and Albert-12, and Eddie-10 in the home.[10]

In 1930, they were living in Washougal, Clark County, Washington, where at age 55, she was taking care of the home and family, Zac, and sons Robert/Albert V-23, Eddie-20.[11]

She died on April 14, 1931, at the age of 56, in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington, and was buried in the Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas, Clark County, Washington.[1]
