James was born 13 Mar 1842 in Canada West to John Lindsay and Elizabeth Leitch. ^[1]

At the time of the 1901 Canada Census, James, Jane T, Lizzie L, and Jannie M Lindsay were listed as living in Pakenham, Ontario, along with James' mother Lizabeth and a labourer^[2]. At the time of the census, James' occupation was listed as "Farmer".

James passed away 27 Dec 1931 in Pakenham County, Lanark, Ontario. ^[1]
