John was born on July 2, 1854. He is the son of John Lockerby and Elizabeth Cheyne. He was baptized on July 16, 1854 at Huntingdon Methodist Church in Huntingdon, Huntingdon, Canada East. The baptism record states that his parents were John and Elizabeth Lockerby from North Georgetown, Beauharnois.[1]
He married Mary McEwen, daughter of John McEwen and Mary McCraig, on October 30, 1883 at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Ormstown, Châteauguay, Quebec, Canada.[2]
He lived with his wife and family in St. Louis-de-Gonzague parish, Beauharnois, Quebec in 1901.[3]
In 1911 John and his family farmed at Red Deer, Alberta.[4]
