James was born 10 NOV 1728 in Orange, Orange, Virginia, United States, and bought 937.5 acres of land in about 1782 through the Virginia Treasury Warrants. He married Mary Teas and they had several children. He died 10 NOV 1804 in Fairfield Township; Lycoming Co, Pennsylvania.
