Notes for JOB LOW: Job choose guardian Sept 1691 so he would be at least 14 at that time. He chose Benjamin Philips of Marshfield.

Job Low. Brother of Daniel. Possible illegit child of widow Elizabeth (Howland) Low of Marshfield, chose Benjamin Phillips as his gardian in 1691 when he was 14 or over. Settled in Wells and married there on 4-17-1701 to Mary Wormwood, who was baptized on profession of faith 6-23-1706 and admitted to church 4-22-1722. He had a gr. of land in 1701, and in 1714 the 50 acres gr. To his brother Daniel which had lapsed, was given him by the town. List 269c. Jury 1714. Liv. in 1730 when he deeded half his homestead to his eldests son, William. Children: Mary (baptized 7-27-1707, married John Hatch on 9-29-1723); William (baptized 7-27-1707, intended marriage 11-12-1726 to Abigail Goodale. List 269c.); Elizabeth (baptized 9-14-1707, married Philip Hatch on 1-1-1727); Job(baptized 4-2-1710, married to Elizabeth Hatch on 9-4-1736, and 2nd intended marriage to Sarah Kimball on 12-5-1741); John (Married Abigail Frost 2-6-1740/1); David (baptized 9-18-1715, married Sarah Matthews on 8-30-1743); Tabitha (baptized 3-9-1717/8 - had an illegitimate child before July 1732, married Nathan Hatch 11-25-1736); Ephraim (baptized 5-8-1720, married 7-2-1741 to Mary Frost); Lydia (baptized 1-13-1722-3, married 12-13-1743 to Samuel Cane). || Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire, Noyes, Libby and Davis, Genealogical Pub, Baltimore, 1979, p. 445-446.~

In 1735, a road was laid out from the highway leading to Berwick, beginning at the house of Job Low, and by several houses in Merryland to Samuel Hatch, jr.'s, land, and from Hatch's to Capt. John Storer's, as the old Merryland road then went, and then down to the king's highway, near the house of Francis Sayer. History of Wells page 665

Serving under Capt. Michael Pierce in King Philip's war, John Low was killed at Rehoboth on March 26, 1676, when Capt. Pierce and his company were trapped in an ambush and fifty-two Englishmen and eleven friendly Indians were slain. "Elizabeth Loe, being a single woman," had an illegitimate child before June 5, 1678, when she was sentenced by the court to be whipped. This child was, in all probability, Daniel Low. When they moved to Maine in 1699, the brothers Job and Daniel Low were several times mentioned in that order, the natural inference being that Job was the elder. We know that ,Job Low was fourteen years of age or more in September, 1691, when he chose his own guardian, which throws his birth back at least to September, 1677. As there is no record of Elizabeth Low's having had a child in 1677, it is probable that Job, whatever his actual paternity, was born either before John Law's death or posthumously, and he must therefore be considered legitimate."
