He married firstly, Charity Sweeting, and the couple had at least one daughter, Elizabeth. Charity passed away in 1863. Matthew most likely married, secondly, Mary Ann Curry, a widow, residing on Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas.

The following marriage record may pertain to the Mathew Lowe described in the current profile. Matthew Lowe, farmer and widower, married Mary Ann Curry, widow, on 27 Nov. 1869 in New Plymouth in the Parish of St. Peter. Both Matthew and Mary Ann resided in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, at the time of the marriage, Joshua Jordan, Wesleyan minister officiating. The wedding took place in the residence of Mr. John F. Pinder, who also signed the marriage license as a witness. The other witness was Benjamin Lowe.^[1]

Matthew passed away in 1897 on Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas.

Research Notes

Neither Bemjamin Lowe b. abt. 1842 nor Benjamin Lowe b. abt. 1848 could be excluded as the man who witnessed the marriage of Matthew Lowe in 1869. Both Benjamin likely were alive on Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas when the marriage took place.
