Biography

Minnie (Loyd) Mabry is a part of US Black heritage.

Minnie Ethel Loyd was born on September 10, 1936 in Mound Bayou, Bolivar, Mississippi, United States. She was the daughter of Benjamin J. Loyd and Nellie B Hopkins.^[1]

On April 1, 1940, Minnie, age 3, was the daughter of B J Loyd in Beat 3, Bolivar, Mississippi.^[2]

On April 1, 1950, Minnie, age 13, was the daughter of Nellie B Loyd in Mound Bayou, Bolivar, Mississippi.^[3]

Minnie attended and graduated from Mound Bayou High School where she was active in both the high school band and basketball team. She later graduated from Mississippi Valley State College.^[1]

Minnie married Leandrew Mabry, Sr. on March 28, 1956 in Cook County, Illinois.^[4]

Minnie worked at Taborian Community Hospital as a nurse's aide, an EKG tech, ER tech, X-ray tech, Lab tech, Pediatric nurse, and at the Delta Health Center as a phlebotomist.^[1]

Minnie and Leandrew had six children. In addition to the six children listed in her obituary, Minnie was predecease by two children and a granddaughter:

• Regina Stokes of Meriden, CT
• Tiffany Nicole Mabry (granddaughter) of Mound Bayou, MS.

Minnie died on July 18, 2022 in Meriden, New Haven, Connecticut, United States, aged 85.^[1]

In addition to her obituary from McClam Funeral Home (New Haven, Connecticut), an obituary was published in The Delta Democrat-Times (Greenville, Mississippi) on August 3, 2022.^[5] and in the The Enterprise-Tocsin (Indianola, Mississippi) on August 4, 2022.^[6]

Minnie was buried in Saint Gabriel Cemetery in Mound Bayou, Bolivar County, Mississippi on August 7, 2022.^[7]
