Samuel married Lydia Yerkes. He passed away in 1881.

- LUKENS. - On the 18th instant, SAMUEL LUKENS, Sr., in the eighty-first year of his age.
- The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, this morning, at 11 o'clock, from his late residence, near Willow Grove. Carriages will meet the 9'15 o'clock train from city at Heaton Station.[1]
