Maria (Luther) Poole was born in Ireland.

Maria was born about 1820. She was the only daughter of Anthony Luther and Catherine Minchin.

Her father died in 1840.

She married widower and Presbyterian Minister John Poole on 2 March 1849[1]. (His wife Grace had died in December 1847.):

MARRIAGES
March 2, at the Scots Church, Clonmel, the Rev. John Poole, Presbyterian Minister of Lismore, to Maria Minchin, only daughter of Anthony Guy Luther, Esq.[2]

They had issue:

  • Sarah Maria Poole m. Richard Simons Birch

Her husband died in 1861:

DEATHS
On the 14th inst., Holywood, the Rev. John Poole, formerly of Lismore, aged 68 years.[3]

Maria passed away in December 1882 in Holywood[4]:

POOLE—At the residence of her son In law, Mr R. S. Birch, Nynee Ville, Holywood, Maria, relict of the late Rev. John Poole, and only daughter of the Anthony Luther, Esq, of Clonmel, County Tipperary. Her remains will be removed for internment in Holywood Burying-ground, on to-morrow (Friday), December 15th, at half nine o’clock a.m. Friends will please accept this intimation.—"Her end was peace."
