Benjamin Franklin Lynn, son of John M. and Julia Lynn, is found in the 1880 and 1900 census at the ages of 2 and 22, respectively, living with his parents in Oak Grove, Wake County, North Carolina.[1][2]
When his father died intestate on 16 April 1907, he was named as one of his father’s heirs. On 27 April, his mother and elder brother, Theodore, renounced their right to administer the estate, deferring that right to Benjamin.[3]

Sometime in the next several years, the family moved to Morrisville, where Benjamin was living when he registered for the World War I draft on 12 September 1918. In addition to his address, his registration card provides his full name, complete date of birth, occupation, nearest relative, and physical description. His nearest relative was his mother, Mrs. Julia Lynn of Morrisville. His physical description was medium height and build with brown eyes and dark hair.[5]
Within a few years more, Benjamin moved to Leesville, as did his brother Theodore and his family. Benjamin, his mother, and sisters were enumerated in 1920 as follows ...
