William Lyon was christened on 11 Mar 1821 at the church of St Mary the Virgin in Prescot, Lancashire. He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Lyon. His father's occupation was recorded as bricklayer, and the family's address as Huyton.
On the night of June 6th 1841, William's mother was in Hackley Moss, Eccleston with her children William and Margaret. William was an apprentice watchmaker. William's father wasn't with them on the night of the census.
William married Alice Finney on 20 Oct 1844 at St Nicholas' Church in Liverpool, Lancashire. She already had a son Jonathan, who would have been about four when they married.
Their son James was born in 1846 in Prescot, Lancashire.[1]
Their daughter Margaret was born in 1848 in Prescot, Lancashire.[2]
Their son Thomas was born in about 1851 in Prescot, Lancashire.[3]
By March 30th 1851, the family were living in Factory Yard, Prescot. William was a watch maker.
By April 7th 1861, they were in Shuttle Alley, Hillock Street, Prescot. William was a watch wheel maker.
