Samuel Campbell, son of Donald, was four years of age when he came to America (about 1800-1805). In 1836, he moved to Margaree Forks where he conducted a mercantile business as well as a very fine farm. He was first married to Anne MacDonald, a convert to the Catholic Faith and sister of Duncan MacDonald of Golden Grove. They had issue: 1. John Donald, 2. Donald, 3. Catherine Anne, 4. Duncan J., 5. Dougald, 6. Euphemia Anne, 7. Colin John, 8. John and 9. Mary Anne. He was married, the second time, to Catherine MacDonald, daughter of John the "Baron" of South East Mabou, without issue.[1]
Samuel Campbell (64) is on the 1871 census with wife Catherine (43) and their children; Dougald (24), Effy (21), Collon (20) and Mary (16) as well as Jessy McVarish (40) unsure of relationship.[2]
