Speculative Profile based on the information below. John and Hugh MacMaster of Judique were brothers.. it seems they were both trying to claim a lot at Grand Judique. I would guess it was their father's. Perhaps this is Donald MacMaster?
There may be a relation here to Donald MacMaster of Judique who was among the first settlers of Judique.. but the information in MacDougall does not identify them as relations. He simply didn't have any proof from anyone at that time.. could very likely be they were related as it seems like their land grants adjoined, etc.
McMaster, John - Petition to Ainslie(1817): Petitioner, age 26, a native of Inverness, Scotland, has a wife and one child. He asks a lot at Grand Judique, south of that granted to Donald McMaster. Petitioner learns that his brother, Hugh McMaster, has petitioned for the lot, and asks that his right be protected. Note: granted.[1]
It looks as though Hugh and his brother John had a bit of a fight over the title to their father (?) Donald's land grant. Instead Hugh applies for a new grant.
McMaster, Hugh - Petition to Ainslie (1817): Petitioner, age 28, without family, a native of Scotland, asks a lot at Little Judique in lieu of a lot petitioned for at Grand Judique. Note: granted, 200 acres.[1]
