Biography

According to the 1900 Census taken in June of that year, Ernest Lee (18) was living at home with his mother and 3 brothers in Washington, Indiana.^[1] His father William Hiram had died in March of that year. The family was supporting themselves as farmers.

Ernest Lee married Ethel Amanda Seat on 2 Jul 1905.^[2] Ernest was 23 and Ethel was 18. In 1910^[3] the couple are living in Liberty, Arkansas. They own their home and Earnest is working as a laborer for wages in the public sector. They now have 3 daughters:

• Iva (3) - born in 1907
• Jessie (2) - born in 1908
• Cleo - born in 1910.

(Jerry Malott, Grandson of Hiram T. believes that Ethel died in 1912 of tuberculosis.)

On 24 Mar 1917^[4], Ernest married Clementine Allen. Clementine was 42 and Ernest was 35. It was a second marriage for each of them.

In 1930^[5] the family is living in Neal, Arkansas. They are renting a home and Ernest, now 48, is farming. Clementine is now 55 years old. Jessie E., daughter of Ernest and Ethel, is living with her father and step-mother. She is now 22 and is not employed. Her step-brother, Theo R (19) is helping his step-father with the farming. Also in the household is Clementine's father, James K. Staggs who is 81.

Ernest died on 23 Oct 1946.^[6]
