Biography

William was born about 1706. He is the son of John Mangum. He passed away in 1744.

Albemarle Parrish Record, p. 40,29, 44.

John Person's will dated Aug 8,1721-w.p. in Surrey 21 Mar 1738.

William Mangum witnessed an estate inventory in June of 1747 in Surry County.

Before May of 1748, William Mangum family moved to Granville County, North Carolina (currently Warren County)

1749: William obtain land in Granville County.

1754: William and sons, William Jr., and James were in the Granville Militia.

William's land wound up in Bute County when it was carved out of the eastern part of Granville County.

Mangum-117 and Mangum-65 appear to represent the same person because: these are dupes -- there isn't some other Mangum family in VA at this time... Father merge is also pending, and they are already sharing Mary Person(s) as wife. :)
