Biography

James, son of Alexander Marquis and Helen MacNeill was born 1 May 1813 and baptised 18 July 1813 by T. Desbrisay In St. Paul's Anglican, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. ^[1] There is a note attached: "md. Ellen Clark". James and Ellen/Helen resided in Detroit, Michigan. ^[2]

By 1866, James was living an Detroit, Michigan. ^[3] In 1880, James was working as a ships carpenter in Detroit, Michigan. Living with him were his wife Ellen and three adult chilren: Euphenia (ageg 26), Thomas (age 24) and Anna (age 22). ^[4] James was living at 196 Bethune E., Detroit when he died 6 Apr 1906. On 9 Apr, he was buried in Elmwood Cemetery. ^[5]
