It is presumed Eliza died in Center Township, Union County, Indiana because that is where she was buried and is where her family continued to live after her death, according to the 1860 US Census.
Were Eliza and Thomas Jefferson Leonard (abt.1825-1882) still married when she died? Four facts call this into question: 1) Her last name wasn't put on her headstone, 2) Eliza and Thomas weren't living in the same household in 1850,[5] 3) her father sued Thomas and two other family members in 1858,[6] and 4) Thomas had a later history of mutliple marriages, which could be an indication of him having challenges with marriage.
