-Cloudesley was born in 1879 in Stoke Lyne, Oxfordshire, UK. He is the son of Cloudesley Marsham and Frances Marsham. [1]
--Known as primarily a Batsman for Kent County Rugby Club (1900-1922). In 1906 he captained Kent side to county's first County Championships; played 1st class cricket at Oxford University (1900-1902) and was captain during his final year (1902). -- His father, Cloudesley Dewar Bullock Marsham also played for Oxford University, the Gentlemen, Marylebone Cricket Club and for England -- 2 uncles also played 1st class cricket at Oxford University, where another uncle played for Kent, a brother, Francis, played for Oxford and Kent along with his son.
-- 1902: join Queen's Own West Kent Yeomanry (WKY) which was a calvary unit as 2nd Lieutenant and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in 1909. -- Sept. 1915: sailed from Liverpool to take part in Galipoli campaign in WWI -- 1916: location moved in order to defend the Suez Canal in Egypt. -- 1921: relinquished his commission but retained the rank of Captain.
