In 1804 as part owner and master, he sailed the Schooner <em>RESOLUTION<em>, the first vessel to be sailed as a packet from Machias to Boston. In 1807, Zebedee Mayhew (his son-in-law) became part owner and master of the vessel; and in 1817 was master of the MARY&nbsp;OF CUSHING. Capt Paul Crocker died 12/13 Jan 1829 (age 67 gs) at Machias, Maine. The Republican Journal&nbsp;pbulished his Obiturary 13 Feb 1829. The obituary stated he was &quot;long known as a coster and skillful pilot along the eastern shore.&quot;</p><p>Nancy Martin died 28 Sept 1841, age 76 years, 3 months. She and her husband are buried at Machias port, ME. -- behind the church -- where the Machias River meets the Atlantic&nbsp; Ocean, a most beautiful and fitting spot for a sea captian. The&nbsp;grave stone of Captian Paul Crocker reads &quot;Stop travelers as you pass by, As you are now so once was I. As I am now soon you may be, Prepare to die and follow me.&quot; His wifes&#39;s graves&nbsp;stone reads, &quot;Dearest Mother thou has left us, Here thy loss we deeply feel.
