Biography
George Washington Martin was born in 1837 to John and Elizabeth (Waggoner) Martin. He is listed with his parents on the 1850 Census in his birthplace of Giles, Virginia.[1] He married Rebecca Kidd on January 13, 1859 in Tazewell, Virginia.[2] The couple are listed together on the 1860 Census[3] and the 1870 Census[4] He passed away after 1870.
Research Notes
The wrong George W. Martin is linked to these parents on Find-A-Grave: George William Martin (ID # 9268291) is linked to John and Elizabeth (Waggoner) Martin but he is actually the son of David and Rachel (Williams) Martin. A comment has been left on Find-A-Grave to attempt to correct this. The correct spouse (Martha) and children are listed but that George (9268291) is not the son of John and Elizabeth.
This George is the husband of Rebecca Kidd and sources confirm that they had at least two children in Warren, Virginia:
