Biography

Cora was born in 1888. She was the daughter of William J. Mason and Rhoda Weatherford. She passed away in 1975. ^[1]

1900 – Kentucky, Hancock County, Patesville, 8 Jun 1900 The 58th family in the census is the William J. Mason family consisting of William J. (39), wife Rhoda M. (38) and son Carroll (13), daughter Cora E. (11) and daughter Stella C. (9). William and Rhoda have been married for 14 years and have had three children, all of who are still living. William is a farmer and they rent the farm. William reports he and his parents were born in Kentucky while Rhoda reports she was born in Indiana but her parents were born in Kentucky. Mary E. Mason, his mother, is listed next in the census records. The David Alton Mason family is listed a few lines above them in the census as well.

1910 – Kentucky, Ohio County, Fordsville, 22 Apr 1910 The 109th family in the census is William J. Mason (49), his wife Rhoda (48) and daughter Cora Head (21) and her husband Hillery Head (25). William and Rhoda have been married for 25 years and still report all three of their children as living. Cora and Hillery have been married for 6 years. Both William and Hillery are farmers and William reports to be renting the farm.

1920 – Kentucky, Daviess, Owensboro, 113 W. 18th Street, 14 Jan 1920 The 159th family in this census is the Hilary Head family. Hilary (35) and wife Cora (32) are living with their children Evelyn (14), William (11), Martha Ellen (9) and Willard (7) in the home they rent. Hilary is a teamster for the oil company.

1930 – Kentucky, Daviess, Owensboro, 1311 Center Street, 4 Apr 1930 They are the 109th family in District 25. Hillary (45) and wife Cora (38) are still living with their four children Evelyn (26), William (24), Martha E. (20) and Willard (18). The home is rented for $15 per month. Hillary is a truck driver for a contractor, William appears to be a tool dress in the oil business, Evelyn is a telephone operator, Martha does something in the radio business and Willard is a baker for a bakery.

1940 – Kentucky, Daviess County, Owensboro, District 30-20, 22 Apr 1940 Sheet 14B shows Hilery Head (55), wife Cora (51) and children William (31), daughter Martha Head Roach (30), a widow, son Willard (27), also a widow, and grandsons Richard Roach (7) and Berylene J. (4). They are living in a home at 2404 Triplett, which they own and is valued at $2,500. Hilery reports he has a 6th grade education, Cora a 7th grade, William 2 years of high school Martha 8th grade, Willard 2 years of high school. All report they and their parents were born in Kentucky and they were all living in the same house in 1935. Hilery is an advertising man for a soft drink bottling company and earned $560 the previous year. William is a truck driver for a distillery and Willard is a taxi driver for a taxi line.

1950 – Kentucky, Daviess, Owensboro, 2404 Triplett Street, 16 Nov 1950 Death record for Hilery Head reports his date of birth as 24 Oct 1884 in Kentucky. His father is listed as Ben J. Head and his mother as Dora Jane Crow. The informant is William Head, his son. He is listed as married and was buried at Rose Hill cemetery. He died of coronary occlusion.
