Julien Mathieu migrated from Canada to Michigan.

Julien Mathieu was born on 30 Aug 1866 in Ville de Québec, Lower Canada, the son of Jean Mathieu and Obéline Robertson. He was baptised 2 days later in the parish of St-Roch-de-Québec, with Napoléon Chatigny and Vitaline Chatigny standing as his godparents. Both signed, along with his father^[1].

In the 1871 census Julien was in St Pierre Ward, Quebec West, Quebec. He was 4 years old.^[2]

Julien married Caroline (Taillon) Mathieu on August 15, 1888 in Saint-Prime, Le Domaine-du-Roy, Quebec, Canada.^[3]

Julien was a Blacksmith.

In the 1891 census Jules was the married head of household in St Prime, Chicoutimi and Saguenay, Quebec. Caroline and Julien had their first child, Mary Anna L Mathieu (abt.1890-1973). He was 25 years old and was a Forgeron (Blacksmith).^[4]

In the 1900 census Jules was the married head of household in New Hartford, Litchfield, Connecticut. He was 34 years old.^[5]

It is noted that Julien's birthplace is listed as Maine in this census. This is believed to be an intentional "white lie" as his baptismal record would conclude he was indeed born in Quebec, Canada.

In the 1910 census Julius was the married head of household in New Hartford, Litchfield, Connecticut. He was 43 years old.^[6]

In the 1920 census Julius was the married head of household in Hartford, Connecticut. He was 53 years old.^[7]

In the 1930 census Julius was the married head of household in Bristol, Hartford, Connecticut. He was 63 years old.^[8]

In the 1940 census Ju was the married head of household in Bristol, Hartford, Connecticut. He was 73 years old.^[9]

In the 1950 census Julius was the widowed head of household in Bristol, Hartford, Connecticut. He was 83 years old.^[10]

Julien died (age 85) on 10 November 1951 and was buried at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Bristol, Hartford, Connecticut.^[11][12]
