Alfred H. Mathieu was born in January 12, 1892 in Escanaba, Delta County, Michigan, United States, son of Julien Mathieu and Caroline Taillon.^[1]

In the 1900 census Alfred was listed as the son of Jules and Caroline Matthieu in New Hartford, Litchfield, Connecticut. He was 8 years old.^[2]

In the 1910 census "Alfie" was the son of Julius and Caroline Matthieu and lived in New Hartford, Litchfield, Connecticut. He was 18 years old.^[3]

Alfred registered for the World War I military draft in 1917 in Clifton, Passaic County, New Jersey. He worked as a Clerk at United Piece Dye Works in Lodi, New Jersey.^[1]

In the 1920 census Alfred was the married head of household in Paterson Ward 4, Passaic, New Jersey. He was 25 years old. He was a Salesman in a clothing company.^[4]

In 1921, Alfred filed a certificate of incorporation for his business, Hercules Color Corporation in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey. There were three other shareholders aside from Alfred.^[5]

In the 1930 census Alfred was the married head of household at 86 Arlington Avenue, Hawthorne, Passaic, New Jersey. He was 38 years old. He was an Adjuster in a silk company.^[6]

In the 1940 census Alfred was the married head of household in Hawthorne, Passaic, New Jersey. He was 49 years old. He was a Salesman Owner of a chemical company.^[7]

Alfred H. Mathieu died on October 8, 1960 at his home in Bloomingdale, Passaic, New Jersey after a long illness. He was buried October 11, 1960 in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Butler, Morris County, New Jersey.^[8][9]
