Biography
Dominicus Mathijss was a Mennonite box maker. When he married Stijntje Tjercks in 1625, he was a widower of Wijntie Cornelis and had three children. He was buried 6 November 1659 in the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) in Amsterdam

Children of Dominicus
In the burial registers were registred the the funerals of two of Dominicus’ children. Unfortunately, the names of those children are not registered. A child was buried 10 March 1636[3] and an other child was buried 25 April 1637[4].
From his marriage to Wijntie Cornelis a son Mathijs, who later went sailing, is known.
Children from his marriage with Stijntie Tjercks
- Pieter, 7 years old when his father (re)married in 1635 with Grietie Jans
- Tjerck, who, like his halfbrother Mathijs, went to sea[5] Tjerck was the twinbrother of Maritje
- Maritje, who was the twinsister of Tjerck
The twins were born a few days before 23 February 1634 (the day their mother was buried after she died in childbirth)
Children from his marriage with Grietie Jans
- Orseltje, baptized 26 Februari 1636 in the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) in Amsterdam[6]
- Arent, baptized 4 June 1643 in the Oude Kerk (Old Church) in Amsterdam[7].
