Sarah was born about 1736 in Goochland County Virginia. Her parents were John McBride and Mary Curd[1]
In 1756, William Lewis & Sarah McBride had a son Lewis McBride. [2]
About 1758 in Goochland County, Sarah married John Bradshaw. They were the parents of at least seven children, Clayburn, Mary, John, Shadrach, Benjamin, Brice, and Sarah. [3]
John died intestate in Goochland County, Virginia prior to 26 September 1777, when the inventory and appraisal of his estate was recorded. [4] On 15 December 1777, Sarah's dower land was laid off for her, along with the widow's allotment of the personal estate. [5]
The division of John's estate was made to his children on 13 February 1782. The children named as legatees were Claybourne Bradshaw, Ann Bradshaw wife of Larner Bradshaw, Mary Bradshaw, John Bradshaw, Shadrach Bradshaw, Ben Bradshaw, and Brice Bradshaw. Ben and Bryce were not yet of age. [6] Robert Coleman was appointed in court September 1777 as guardian for all the children. [7]
Although Sarah survived her husband, the date and place of her death is yet unknown.
Research Notes
Although daughter Ann's birth record does not appear in the Douglas Register with her siblings, she is one of the seven children of John Bradshaw who were appointed Robert Coleman as their guardian in September Court 1777. She is also listed as one of the seven legatees to John Bradshaw in the 1782 division of his estate as Ann the wife of Larner Bradshaw. In both of these records she is shown as child number two, placing her birth as sometime between Clayburne (1759) and Mary (1763).
The daughter named Sarah, who appears in the Douglas Register as born September 3, 1772, was not one of the children assigned a guardian in 1777 nor one of the legatees in 1782. Indicating she died prior to 1777.
