John Francis, son of James and Mary (née Owens) McEntee, was born on the 23rd August 1889 at 47 King Street, Belfast.[1]

In the 1901 census John Francis (aged 11) was the son of James McEntee at 49 King Street, Belfast.[2]

In the 1911 census Seaghán Prionsais (aged 21), Engineer, was the single son of Séumas Mac an tSaoi at 49 King Street, Belfast.[3]

MacEntee served as a Sinn Féin Teachta Dála from 1919 to 1922, in the 1st and 2nd Dálaí, and as a Fianna Fáil Teachta Dála from 1927 to 1969, in the 5th through 18th Dálaí. He held the position of Minister for Finance from 1932 to 1939 and 1951 to 1954, Minister for Industry and Commerce from 1939 to 1941, Minister for Local Government and Public Health from 1941 to 1947, Minister for Local Government from 1947 to 1948, Minister for Social Welfare from 1957 to 1961, Minister for Health from 1957 to 1965, and Tánaiste from 1959 to 1965.[4]
