Daniel McNair was born in 1717, his father, David, was 25 and his mother, Janet, was 25. He married Hannah Allen in February 1745 in Augusta, Virginia. They had three children during their marriage. He died on July 19, 1791, in Augusta, Virginia, at the age of 74.
