Biography
Neosho - Wayne Ernest Meister, 83, Neosho, formerly of Red Oak, died at 7:43 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at his home. Mr. Meister was born September 27, 1917 in Lawrence Co, MO. Wayne met his wife, Opal A. Sexton in Lawrence County and were married September 24, 1936 in Carthage, MO. The moved to Diamond, MO in 1958 where they resided until 1977. In 1977 they moved to Mt. Vernon, MO and in 1991 moved to Neosho, MO. Mr. Meister worked in the farming industry with his father for many years. Upon their move to Mt. Vernon he was employed at the Missouri Rehalbilitation Center where he later retired. He was a member of the Rocketdyne Church of Christ, Neosho. Survivors include his wife Opal A. Meister; two daughters, Shirley Lankford and her husband Gerald D., Seneca, MO, Janice Fritchey and her husband David, Neosho, MO; two brothers, Willard Meister and his wife Clara, Gene Meister and wife Annalee Meister both of Cottonwood, AR and one sister Betha Speer, Whittier, CA. His parents, one son, Jr. Wayne Meister, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2001 under the direction of Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller, MO with the Rev. J.K. Wright and Rev. Jerry Wigant officiating. Burial followed at Red Oak Cemetery west of Miller, MO. -Lawrence County Record, Vt Vernon, Lawrence Co, MO, Wed. 21 Feb 2001-
