Biography

Anne Josephe was born about 1747. She was the daughter of Joseph Melanson and Anne Bourg.[1]

The family with six children was deported to France in 1758 aboard one of five British ships that docked at Saint-Malo on 23 January 1759. Three of the youngest children died at sea during the crossing. Anne Bourg and their daughter Marie Melanson died at the hospital not long after arrival. Only Joseph and his children Anne-Josèphe and Germain survived the horrific conditions aboard the ship. [2][3]

Anne (19) married Joseph Bourg (22) (born in 1744 in Cobequit, Acadie, Colony of Nova Scotia; son of François Bourg and Marie Marguerite Hébert) on 20 Jan 1767 in St. Enogat, Ille-et-Villaine, France. They were granted a dispensation for consanguinity but the degree was not indicated.[1] Their known children were:

  1. Marguerite Theodose Bourg (1768– ) .
  2. Anne Marie Bourg (1770–1772) .
  3. Isabelle Charlotte Bourg (1771–1771) .
  4. Jean Perinne Bourg (1772– ) .
  5. Josephe Marguerite Bourg (1773– ) .
  6. Anne Bourg (1775– ) .
  7. Joseph Bourg (1776–1776) .
  8. Rose Perinne Bourg (1777–1777) .
  9. Joseph Pierre Bourg (1778–1778) .
  10. Jean Bourg (1779–1779)

From 1759 to 1772, Anne Josephe and Joseph lived at St-Enogat, France. On 15 Sep 1772, Joseph, aged 28, a seaman, was living with his wife, Anne Josephe, aged 25, a spinner and cutter, and their two daughters. Their deceased daughter was also noted.[1]

In1793, at Pleurtuit, France, Anne Josephe, a widow, was listed as a spinner.[1]

She passed away after 1792.
