- Wijbe Louws Mellema was born on March 11, 1813 in Surhusterveen, the son of Louw Liewes and Fetje Wibes. At age 23 he married 17 year old Hiske Tjebbes Muntinga on October 7, 1836 in Kollumerland. He died on August 22, 1847 in Doezum when he was 34 years old.
