Mary "Polly" Merrill, b 16 March 1778 at Haverhill, Grafton, New Hampshire,^[1] daughter of Nathaniel Merrill and Sarah Hazen. She died 7 Oct 1838 at Piermont, Grafton, New Hampshire.

Mary "Polly" Merrill married at Haverhill NH 1 Dec 1796 Nathaniel Stevens Runnels. He was b at Haverhill Mass 23 June 1771, d at Piermont NH 24 Aug 1857, son of Ebenezer and Hannah (Smith) Runnels. Eleven children

1. Mira "Myra" b. Sept. 12, 1797; married George Hibbard of Piermont NH.
2. Harriet b. Mar. 6, 1799; married Abner Tarbox of Piermont NH.
3. Ebenezer b. Dec. 17, 1800; married Ann Donnell of York Maine and moved to California
4. Sally Hazen; b. Nov. 24, 1802; d. Dec. 28, 1823, aged 21.
5. Arthur b. Nov. 26, 1806; married Luella Hall.
6. Mary Merrill b. Jan. 29, 1809. She m1) 14 Nov 1828 to John Worthen of Bradford VT; She m2d) William Pollard of Barnet, Vermont.
7. Hannah Smith, b. June 6, 1811.
8. Bartlett b. July 18, 1813; married Lucinda Clark at Hartford, Ohio.
9. George b. Aug. 17, 1815. Moved tio Ohio and about 1834 moved to Iowa.
10. Charles Swan, b. June 15, 1818, in Piermont NH; d. by drowning in Connecticut river, July 18, 1830, aged 12.
11. Hazen b. Sept. 13, 1820, in Piermont NH. He married Harriet Metcalf of Piermont NH. He died Oct 10, 1857, aged 37. He left one son, Hazen Fayette Runnels who resided in Minnesota.
