Augustin Messier was born in 1714[1] in Varennes, at the time part of Nouvelle France. His parents were François Michel Messier and Marie Anne Amiot. His godparents were Jean Baptiste Le Brodeur and Demoiselle Marie Judith D'amour de Clignancour (whose father was Rene D;Amours, Sieur de Clignancourt) [2]
Augustin Messier "dit St. Francois" passed away in 1784 when the colony had passed into English hands.
