Biography

Mildred Jane Metcalf was born on 5 March 1917 in Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama, United States. She was the daughter of Amos Harvey Metcalf (1879–1962) and Carl Muncy Chancey (1888–1983).^[1]

When the 1920 United States Census was taken, Mildred J. Metcalf was 2 years old. She was living in the household of her father, Amos H. Metcalf, in Clintonville, Coffee County, Alabama, along with her mother, Carl, and 4 siblings--Frances, Ray, Elmeta, and Mary E.^[2]

Mildred was living with her parents, Amos and Carl Metcalf, in Clintonville, Coffee County, Alabama when the 1930 United States Census was taken. Mildred was 13 years old. Four of her siblings--Mary E., Elmeda, Virginia, and Frances were also members of the household.^[3]

Mildred married James Edward Johnson about November 1935..

In 1940, Mildred, her husband, and their child were living in the household of Mildred's father, Amos Metcalf, in Clintonville, Coffee County, Alabama.^[4]

In 1950, Mildred, her husband, and their four children were living in Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama. Mildred was working as a clerk in a grocery store.^[5]

Mildred Jane Metcalf died on 22 February 2005 at the age of 87.^[1][6] She was buried in Meadowlawn Cemetery, Enterprise, Coffee County, Alabama.^[7]
