In the 1850 U.S. census Jervis and Elizabeth lived in Logan, Kentucky with their 8 children. He was a 45-year old Farmer stating he was born in Virginia. His wife Elizabeth was born in Tennessee.[2]

In the 1860 census Jervis, Elizabeth, and three of their children lived in Henrysville, Logan, Kentucky. He was 53 years old.[3]
In the 1870 census Jervis and Elizabeth were still living on the farm in Henrysville, Logan County, Kentucky. Son George had married and two children that also lived in the home. The enumerator also lists several children listed as Farm Laborers, but relation to Jervis was not indicated. Jervis was 64 years old.[4]
Jervis Milam died on December 26, 1878 in Logan County, Kentucky and was laid to rest in Terry Cemetery, Logan County Kentucky.[5]
