Biography

Susannah Miller was born in Stark County, Ohio, 28 August 1821, the daughter of Peter Miller and Mary Stewart.[1] She died in Bryan, Williams County, Ohio, 13 October 1889.[2]

Susannah married in Stark County, Ohio, 18 May 1845, Benjamin Franklin Schmachtenberger.[3]

Mrs. Schmachtenberger, wife of Benjamin Schmachtenberger for many years a resident of this township, died last Monday, of cancer, aged nearly sixty-nine years. She was an exemplary woman, a devoted wife and affectionate mother, and highly esteemed by all who knew her.

Benjamin and Susannah (Miller) Schmachtenberger were the parents of seven children, born Williams County, Ohio, probably in Pulaski Township (birth order uncertain at this writing),

  1. Ida Schmachtenberger, died about 1858.
  2. Ada Schmachtenberger; married Samuel Farber.
  3. Cleophas Schumachtenberger, born about 1846, died about 1871.
  4. Adolph Schmachtenberger, born about 1848, died about 1921; married (1) Christina Barbara Smeltz, (2) Susan Miller.
  5. Rudolph Schmachtenberger, born about 1850, died about 1872.
  6. Samuel Schmachtenberger, born about 1857, died about 1870.
  7. Simon Schmachtenberger, born about 1857.
