Biography

Annie (Anna) A. Miller was born in November 1878, apparently in England, although some records give her birthplace as the U.S. state of New York.

Annie A. Miller married John B. Lasher on 24 December 1898 in Voorheesville, New York. ^[1] In 1900 they were living in John's parents' household in Bethlehem, New York, where the 1900 U.S. Census recorded Leonard Lasher, age 46 (born November 1853),^[2] with wife Maria L. Lasher, age 60 (born April 1830), son John B. Lasher, 31 (born September 1868), son Ira M. Lasher, 28 (born June 1871), son Aica B. Lasher, 25 (born June 1874), and daughter-in-law Anna A. Lasher, 21 (born November 1878), all born in New York to parents born in New York. John B. Lasher and Anna A. Lasher both had been married for 1 year. ^[3]

The 1910 U.S. Census recorded John B. Lasher, age 42, a farm laborer, his wife Anna A. Lasher, 32, and Howard J. Miller, age 7, nephew, in the village of Cedar Hill, Bethlehem, New York. Anna and John had been married twelve years, and Anna had not had any children. Anna was born in England to parents born in England, and had immigrated to the United States in 1886. The others were born in New York to parents born in New York. ^[4]

The 1915 New York State Census recorded Annie Lasher, age 38, and John B. Lasher, age 48, in Bethlehem, Albany County, New York, with adopted son Howard Miller, age 14, all born in the United States. John Lasher was a farm laborer and Howard Miller was attending school.^[5]

The 1940 U.S. Census recorded Annie Lasher, age 61 and a widow, in the household of her brother-in-law Asa B. Lasher in Cedar Hill, Bethlehem, New York. Others in the household were Asa's unmarried brothers Ira Lasher and Frank Lasher, and Charles Miller, 51, unmarried, described as a boarder. All had lived in the same house in 1935. Asa and his brothers were born in New York; Annie and Charles were born in England.^[6]
