Lewis was born in 1825. Based on the 1871 census, we are setting 1833 as Lewis' birth year.[1] [2] [3]
The 1851 census recorder's handwriting is very difficult to decipher. It is transcribed as Sewis H. However, 1861 lists Harvey Mills with the same age as Lewis. So, it is quite certain that Harvey was his preferred name.
He is the son of John Mills and Mary Welling.
Harvey married Grace Lewis in 1861.[4]
Harvey Mills died in 1901 and is buried in St. Martin's in the Woods Anglican Church cemetery in Shediac, N.B. [5]
Note: There is a major discrepancy with the birth date of (Lewis) Harvey Mills. On the gravestone, the date is listed as 1825. However, all of the census documents place his birth date at 1832.
