Biography

James Montgomery was born about 1694 in Brigend, Ayrshire, Scotland, son of William Montgomery (~1660 - >1721) and Isabella (Burnett) Montgomery (1650 - 1750).

His siblings were:

  2. Anna Montgomery (1690 - 1790)
  3. Elizabeth Montgomery (~1690 - ~1751)
  4. William Montgomery (~1693 - 1771)
  5. Alexander Hugh Montgomery (~1700 - >1763)
  6. Jane Montgomery (~1700 - <1800)

James married Mary Parnell (1706 - 1764). Their children were:

  1. Robert Montgomery Jr. (~1732 - ~1798)
  2. Alexander Montgomery (1735 - 1798).

James's son was Robert Montgomery (~1732 - ~1798).

James died on 20 Apr 1759 in Upper Freehold, Monmouth, Province of New Jersey aged ~64.

Notes from T.A. Montgomery, CMS 4: "WIFE'S NAME WAS MARY. Third son and fifth child of William and Isabel Montgomery. Born on father's estate in Ayrshire, Scotland. Accompanied father to East Jersey. Will dated 12 April 1756. Had five children mentioned in will: Robert, Alexander, James, William and Burnett.

Montgomery-289 and Montgomery-4647 appear to represent the same person because: They both have the same date & place of birth and of death; parents are the same. It looks like they should have been merged when their mother was merged
