James Montgomery was born about 1694 in Brigend, Ayrshire, Scotland, son of William Montgomery (~1660 - >1721) and Isabella (Burnett) Montgomery (1650 - 1750).

Will dated 12 April 1756. Had five children mentioned in will: Robert, Alexander, James, William and Burnett.
