Pierre Joseph Moreau was born around 1709 , Baptized 30 May 1714 at age of 5, to Jean Baptiste Moreau and Marie Anne Rodrigue. His mother died when he was 16, and his father when he was 18. He married at 19 and raised ten children. Pierre passed away in 1771 at 56 years old and was buried 14 April 1771.

Pierre Joseph Moreau fils de Jean Moreau (Moraux [sic]) et Marie Rodrigue demeurant à Rimouski, a été baptisé sous condition le 31 mai 1714 à Québec. L'enfant est âgé de 5 ans. Le parrain a été Pierre Lepage et la marraine Angélique Caron.

Le 24 mai 1734, mariage entre Pierre Joseph Moreau et Dorotée Michaud à Saint-Louis-de-Kamouraska. Il est le fils de feu Jean Moreau et défunte Marie Rodrigue de la paroisse de St-Germain de Rimousqui.

Le 14 avril 1771 Joseph Moreau a été inhumé dans le cimetière de la paroisse St-Louis-de-Kamouraska. en marge du registre on a ajouté le sobriquet "Le Bonhomme" à son nom.

A careful reexamination of the baptismal registration shown in this profile will show that it is dated 1719, not 1714 (see the clear writing in the year of the one line at the bottom of the image. In the text, the priest wrote that the child was FIVE yrs old at his baptism. I explored around & it appears the family preferred remote dwelling spots. Even in Beauport, they were living (at one point, at least) in the forested interior of Beauport at Mont-Louis, not in the village itself. It appears that the household moved downriver to Rimouski before they got this son baptized, & at that time, Rimouski was still a frontier settlement ^ had no resident parish priest - being serviced by missionaries.
