David was born in 1816 in Georgia. He passed away in 1863 while serving in the Civil War (see military service section). He died at the age of 46 and is interred at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond City, Virginia. His gravesite has a military marker.[1]

On January 5, 1841, David Married Esther M. Bell in Hall County, Georgia.[2]
In 1860, David was 44 years old and living in Randolph County, Alabama, with his wife Esther and eight children. Information from the census:
David enlisted as a private in Company G, 47th Alabama Infantry on May 14, 1862. He enlisted at Loachapoka, Lee County, Alabama.
David was admitted to the 2nd General Hospital, also listed as the 2nd Alabama Hospital, located in Richmond, Virginia. The date of admission was December 24, 1862. He died in the hospital on January 7th or 8th (records differ),1863. The cause of death was pneumonia. [4]
