He was elected rector of the University of Edinburgh in 1627. He became a Lord of Session in 1629 and assumed the title Lord Prestongrange[2] (Prestongrange is just east of Edinburgh in what was then Haddingtonshire, now East Lothian).
Alexander Morison married Helenor Maul in Edinburgh on 6 September 1610[3][4]
Alexander died on 20 September 1631 and was buried in Canongate Churchyard, Edinburgh.[1][5] His will was confirmed in Edinburgh Commissary Court on 16 March 1632.[6]
