Biography
Joel Morton was an Alabamian.
Joel Morton was born on 18 May 1823 in Blount County, Alabama, United States, son of James Morton (~1790–~1871) and Mary Ann Durham (1791–1875).
Joel married Sarah Bynum on 26 October 1848 in Blount County.[1] Their children were:
- Lucinda Morton (~1854– ) .
- Mary Morton (~1856– ) .
- Rufus Morton (~1859– )[2]
Co. I. 49th Alabama Infantry.
Joel died while serving in the Civil War on 15 July 1863 and was buried in Snead, Blount, Alabama.[3]
