Biography

Tshepo Motsepe studied as a medical doctor. She graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal with her MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) and went on to complete her Master of Public Health [MPH] in Maternal Child Health and Aging at Harvard School of Public Health. In 2012, she completed a Social Entrepreneurship Certificate Program (SECP) at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). She is the current chairperson of the African Self Help Trust (ASHA Trust), focusing on Early Childhood Development and Education.

Over the years, she has worked in both private practice in (Mmakau Village and Pretoria CBD). She worked in hospitals in South Africa (Bophela Hospital, Mahikeng and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto and Zimbabwe (Mutare, Chinoyi, Harare and Parirenyatwa Hospitals). She's a former Deputy Director of The Reproductive Health Research Institute.

Her services outside of medical practice include: Non-executive director – Wits Health Consortium and Wits Hospice Patron – South African Civil Society for Women’s, Adolescents and Children’s Health (SACSoWACH) Served as Chairperson of Gauteng Health Department’s Accreditation Committee Patron – Students Sponsorship Program (SSP) Former board member Vaal Reefs Disaster Trust Former board member Kids Haven Foundation Former Membership – National Medical and Dental Association. She is guided by the belief that “economic and social development is a pre-requisite for communities to lead socially and economically productive lives’” as stated in the Alma Ata Declaration of 1978
