Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1870 Family say she was born in Hokitika - not found on NZ Birth indexes However at the Greymouth Catholic Church, she was baptised on 16 July 1870.

Also baptised Catholic in a nearby Greymouth church was her youngest sister, who was born the same day her mother died. This sibling now has a new surname of CLAUGHESSY.

On her marriage record it says her parents are John MOULD & Maria Josephine NAUGHTON. She has at least three siblings

Eliza died soon after child birth of her fourth child.

Her baby, called Wilfred, was adopted and bought up by Albie and Becky Fletcher, who were relatives of the Smith family- and adored by many within the Maungaturoto community. In later life he used the surname CURTIS, but many people refer to him as Wilfred Curtis-Smith.
