Biography

Sarah Mouser was born about 1815, in Virginia, USA. Her parents were Jacob Mouser and Christina [Andries] Mouser.

Sarah is known to have been living with her sister, Elizabeth Mouser, near Pruntytown, in Taylor County, Virginia, in 1860. This is according to the 1860 United States Census. The women were both listed as single and living in the same household.

It is believed that Sarah and Elizbeth were living in Taylor County by 1850 as well.

  • Taylor County, Virginia became Taylor County, West Virginia, in 1863, during the American Civil War.

Also living in Taylor County, Virginia [later to become West Virginia] at this time was Sarah's and Elizabeth's sister, Rebecca [Mouser] Wilson. Rebecca lived with her husband, Abraham Charles Wilson, and the couple's children. Rebecca, Abraham, and their children are found on the 1850, 1860, and 1870 United States Census records, as living in Taylor County.

It is presumed that Sarah Mouser and Elizabeth Mouser lived close to their married sister, Rebecca [Mouser] Wilson, in Taylor County.

It is not as yet known if Sarah ever married or had any children.

It is known that Sarah's sister, Elizabeth Mouser, married her first cousin, David Mouser, a widower, on August 4, 1864, in Fetterman, Taylor County, West Virginia, USA. The couple located to Ohio, where David was born and lived.

It is not known at this time what became of Sarah Mouser after 1860.
