Research Notes

https://www.british-history.ac.uk/magna-britannia/vol4/lv-lxiv: Baron Multon of Gilsland. -- Thomas de Multon, whose grandfather had married the heiress of Vaux, Lord of the barony of Gilsland; was summoned to parliament 25 Edw. I.: his daughter and heir married Ralph de Dacre.

The grandfather who married Vaux is Multon-43, which is another Multon line. But is this really the person we have here? That person's daughter married Dacre-15, it seems. See

For an old and short summary of this line, Gilsland line of the Multons, see Hutchinson for example.[1] A more recent pedigree and discussion is given Ferguson's CWAAS article "Barony of Gilsland" page 468. [2]
