DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Edward by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Edward:

Munford-249 and Munford-117 appear to represent the same person because: On the profile for the father of Edward Munford (Munford-62) there is a link to a source that identifies Edward Munford, brother of Major James Munford as the one who married Elizabeth Hall.

Here is the link - https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Edward_Montfort_%281%29

Based on that source and in response to Brian Rose's query on G2G this is what I propose - Munford-249 has the "about death date" of 1802 for Munford-117. Munford-249 should be disconnected as son of Munford-62 and merged with Munford-117,

Hall-20322 should be disconnected from Munford-65 and stay with the merged Edward Munford's (249 & 117)

Hi - and thank you and Brian Rose for all your work trying to untangle these families. I'm going to reject, for the time being, the match of Edward Munford (249) and Edward Munford (117) because they have different parents and different wives.

Edward Munford (Munford-117) was born to Robert and Martha Munford in 1726 and his birth is noted in the Bristol Parish Register. This Edward and his wife, Mary, were living in Dinwiddie Co., VA, on 25 Nov 1752, according to a deed recorded in Lunenburg Co., VA, and Brunswick Co., VA. The deed says the land being sold was "devised to the sd Edward Munford by the sd Robert Munford by his will in writing dated Apr 20, 1734." I've added the birth record and abstract of this deed on the profile page for Edward Munford (Munford-117).

Additional research may show that Edward Munford (Munford-117) and Edward Munford (Munford-65) are the same person, but I don't think we're there, yet.

I'm a descendant of John Hall and his wife, Ann Bolling. I've been poking around the Hall / Munford/Montfort families and all the other in-laws of this group for 25 years. That does *not* make me an expert by any means. The destruction of Prince George Co. and Dinwiddie Co., VA, records puts a serious crimp in the ability to definitively nail these family members. As much as we would like to know all of our ancestors and tie these families up with nice, neat bows, it may not be possible. All we can do is keep looking for actual records from as many primary sources as we can find and hope for the best!

Sarah, I have extensively researched the Munfords since we last communicated. I believe you previously disconnected Elizabeth Hall Brodnax as wife of Edward Munford. I wasn't sure about it being correct, but after looking into things further, I agree with you and have once again disconnected her. However, from what I can see, there is serious confusion about the Edward Munford who was married to Elizabeth Hall Brodnax. From what I have been able to determine, he is the son of Robert Munford and Martha Kennon, while Edward, who I have as the father of Martha Munford Mulholland is the son of James Munford and Elizabeth Bolling.

I've created a Munford tree on Ancestry based on my research. Please take a look, if you can. I appreciate any input. https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/tree/183949334/family?cfpid=282399302836&fpid=282417779165&usePUBJs=true
